When Lil Nas X was accused of “mocking” transitioning in a since-deleted post, he apologized to the trans community.
The “Old Town Road” singer apologized to the trans community on Twitter on Tuesday, adding, “much love to you guys. I definitely handled that situation with anger instead of considering why it was not acceptable. sorry”
After posting a picture of influencer Glow Princess, whose actual name is Armanda Tounghui, to his social media accounts, the 23-year-old gave an explanation a short while later.
He captioned the video, “the surgery was a success,” implying that he had just received gender-affirming surgery.
Many of his fans, however, took issue with the joke, criticizing the Grammy recipient for using the trans community as the “punchline of a joke” in light of recent anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation.
“I’m literally just saying she looks like me, y’all cannot be f—kin serious,” Lil Nas X responded.
When another fan questioned why he “had to mention surgery,” the rapper responded, “because she has titties? Are you stupid?
Lil Nas X, whose actual name is Montero Lamar Hill, apologized and deleted his earlier tweets after taking some time to collect himself.
The rapper behind “Industry Baby,” who came out as homosexual in 2019, is no stranger to igniting controversy.
The rapper faced criticism from religious organizations in 2021 after releasing a pornographic music video for his single “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name).”
Many conservative organizations asserted he was pushing “gay agendas and demonic visuals” in the video, in which he danced on Satan’s knee, became a sex slave, and slid into hell down a stripper pole.
In an attempt to stop one of his performances last year, a group of “street ministry” protesters even appeared outside one of his performances.
The homophobes rejected the rapper’s offer to purchase them some pizza as a response.
