Erik Carlson, the CEO of DISH, stated today that he will step down as president and CEO on November 12th.
He will stay on the board of directors until the completion of the already announced merger with EchoStar, so he won’t be leaving the company entirely.
Hamid Akhavan is reportedly going to be promoted to CEO and President by DISH. As the merger moves forward, he will continue to lead both businesses as the CEO and President of EchoStar.
In August of 1995, Erik Carlson began working for DISH as an account executive. In 2005, he advanced to the position of vice president of sales and retail services. In order to become the president and chief executive officer in 2017 and remain there as of right now, he was elevated to the position of president and chief operating officer in 2015. Bradley University awarded him a bachelor’s degree in 1991.

The announcement of DISH’s third quarter 2023 results coincided with the loss of 64,000 subscribers for both DISH and Sling TV. This is fantastic news because Sling TV gained subscribers in the third quarter of 2023 and reversed recent losses.
Sling TV lost eleven7,000 members, while DISH lost eighteen thousand. Between the two brands, DISH presently has 8,840,000 pay TV subscribers overall, a decrease from 8,904,000 in 2022. There are currently 2.12 million Sling TV subscribers and 6.72 million DISH subscribers.
