Coachella weekend 2 ended on a poor note financially, with the music festival facing a $28,000 punishment over Lana Del Rey’s performance.

According to a representative from the City of Indio, where Coachella takes place, the singer’s performance on Friday night lasted more than 13 minutes. It may not appear to be a serious infraction, but it is sufficient to result in a large fine.

Lana’s weekend 2 set had 19 songs in total, including a surprise performance by Camila Cabello, who sang her new hit “I LUV IT.”

However, we’re told that this is the sole fine issued during the music festival’s two weekends, so Coachella organizers are likely to regard this as a win.

The $28K is a significant increase over last year’s curfew violations, which resulted in $117,000 in fines. Similarly, in 2022, the city issued $61K in fines for the festival’s two weekends, plus one weekend of Stagecoach.

Nonetheless, from what we’ve heard, this year’s event was notably less boisterous than prior ones.

As previously reported by TMZ, arrests decreased by 20% and citations decreased by 43% throughout the first weekend.

However, this could be related to the low ticket sales for this year’s event. There were still plenty of Coachella passes available on the website, which is a stark contrast to previous years when the event sold out in less than a day.

So, while the drop in arrests and fines is beneficial to the city, it could be a negative indication for Coachella’s future.
