Jamie Foxx has now disclosed the reason for his unexpected 2023 hospitalization.
A video of the actor speaking to a group of restaurant clients went viral on Monday (July 1), with Foxx claiming that it all started with someone offering him an Advil for a headache.
However, he asserted that everything that followed was a haze, claiming, “Look, April 11 last year, bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil [and] I was gone for 20 days.” I can’t recall anything. I’m in Atlanta, they told me, and my sister and daughter took me to the first doctor.”

“The next doctor said, ‘There’s something going on up there,'” he told the audience, pointing to his head. “I won’t say it on camera… but it was.”
The incident in question first made headlines in April 2023, when his daughter, Corinne, revealed the details. In a now-deleted Instagram post, she provided an update on her father’s health, describing one of the issues as a “medical complication.” While imprecise, Corinne emphasized that “quick action and great care” ultimately rescued the actor from more serious consequences.
The renowned actor would subsequently make his first public appearance later that year, in December 2023. Jamie Foxx made an appearance at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema and Television, where he vaguely acknowledged what had happened.
“I couldn’t do it six months ago; I couldn’t even get to the stage. I’m not a clone. “I’ve heard a lot of people say I was cloned,” he quipped at the time. “It feels great to be here. It’s different now, and I appreciate every minute of it. I would not want what I went through on my worst enemy because it is difficult when it is almost over and you see the tunnel. I saw the tunnel but did not see the light. It was hot in that tunnel, too, and I had no idea where I was headed. “Sh*t, am I going to the right place?”
Then, in May 2024, while accepting the African American Film Critics Association’s Producers Award, the 56-year-old multihyphenate announced that he will go into detail about his health scare in a new comedy special.
“Everyone wants to know what occurred, and I will tell you what happened, but I have to do it my way. I’ll do it in a funny way. I am going to be on stage. He addressed the audience, “We’re going back to our stand-up roots.”
