Fandango’s founder, James Michael Cline, died after falling from the 20th floor of a hotel in New York City.
Cline was 64 years old when he died on Tuesday (July 16).
At at 10:19 a.m. local time, the New York Police Department rushed to the scene on the third floor courtyard of the Kimberly Hotel on 50th Street.
According to a statement from the NYPD, officers arrived at the location and discovered a ‘unconscious and unresponsive individual’.
According to the authorities, he experienced ‘injuries symptomatic of a fall from an elevated position’.

The individual, later identified as Cline, was pronounced deceased by EMS, but the cause of death was not immediately determined.
The investigation into Cline’s death is underway.
According to those close to Cline, Cline’s death was unexpected, especially given that he had only recently undergone gallbladder surgery.
Cline established Fandango in 2000 and stayed with the company until it was acquired by Comcast in 2007, after which he resigned in 2011.
Fandango is now owned by both NBCUniversal and Warner Bros.

When Cline founded the company, he described it to Variety as ‘quick and enjoyable’.
“Fandango is the perfect match to a service designed to make going to the movies easier and more enjoyable than ever before,” he said, adding that Fandango has a ‘instantly identifiable and distinctive name that sets us apart in our business’.
Following his departure from Fandango, Cline became involved with many tech and venture capital organizations, as well as launching additional businesses, including Accumen, Insureon, and Accolade, under his Accretive company.
Cline most recently served as executive chairman of investment firm Juxtapose.
In a 2018 Fordham University article, Cline was described as a’serial entrepreneur’ and was lauded by students for inspiring them to ‘work with people you trust’ and to remain ‘focused, determined, and persistent’.
“Mr. Cline helped me learn the importance of building a strong team from the onset,” a former pupil stated.
In his personal life, Cline met and married Pamela B. Cline in 1995.
According to a wedding announcement in The New York Times, Cline graduated from Cornell University and holds an M.B.A. from Harvard.
He and Pamela went on to have six children and own multimillion-dollar mansions in Greenwich, Connecticut, the Hamptons, and Palm Beach, Florida.
Cline is survived by his wife and children.
