According to The Information, Apple is still developing a foldable iPhone, which may be available as early as 2026.

The phone is expected to fold horizontally, much like the clamshell-style Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.

The Information revealed in February that Apple was in the process of constructing two folding iPhone prototypes. However, it appears Apple has landed on a design, as The Information reports the device has an internal nickname, V68, meaning “the idea has moved beyond the conceptual stage” and is now “in development with suppliers.”

Apple is apparently still working on flattening the crease that shows when the phone is opened, as well as making the device slimmer. This confirms Tuesday’s Digitimes report, which revealed similar information about Apple’s folding phone intentions. According to recent speculations, Apple is reportedly developing a foldable MacBook that might be released in 2026.

Aside from its work on foldables, Apple may be preparing to improve next year’s iPhone with a mechanical aperture that allows users to achieve a depth-of-field effect by blurring the backdrop of an image while keeping the subject in focus, according to The Information. Rumors also suggest that Apple is developing a considerably slimmer iPhone for 2025.
