Jacoby Jones’ cause of death has been determined… According to TMZ Sports, the Super Bowl champion died from hypertensive cardiovascular disease.

The medical examiner disclosed details of the startling death on Tuesday, claiming that the 40-year-old died of heart illness caused by long-term high blood pressure.

The mode of death was listed as natural.

As previously reported, Jones was discovered dead in his New Orleans home on July 14, and his family, friends, and former NFL teammates were devastated by the abrupt loss.

“My brother, you will truly be missed,” Hall of Famer Ray Lewis said soon after his Ravens teammate died.

Jones, a former Lane College receiver, was a third-round choice in the 2007 NFL Draft and spent five seasons with the Houston Texans.

The 6-foot-3 athlete then went on to play for the Ravens, who won Super Bowl XLVII. He also had short spells with the Chargers and Steelers.
