As a parent to his four children, Tom Hanks “made every mistake.”
The 68-year-old “Big” star is the father of Colin, 45, and Elizabeth, 42, with his first wife, Samantha Lewes, as well as Chet, 34, and Truman, 28 with Rita Wilson. Over the years, Tom has acknowledged that he wasn’t the ideal father, which has caused some challenging discussions with his children.
“I made every mistake,” Tom said during a Monday visit on the “On Purpose with Jay Shetty” podcast. You see, you somehow injure the children in the same manner. And when they grow older, you return and [say], “Hey, can I talk about how much of a knothead I was with you all those years?”

“Yeah, sure, Dad,” they respond. Yes, this is something I’ve been kind of waiting for. Would you mind unloading?
However, I would also ask if it ends up being 50/50. Perhaps the way we lived and our mentality. That product is worth its weight in gem-encrusted gold, according to the laughs.
Regarding his children, he continued, “[They] taught me] how different they all are.” They are never the same kind of person.
Tom continued by recounting an incident involving his youngest son, Truman, in which he felt he had let the child down by promising him a baseball game but failing to deliver.
“He was younger,” he said. He was maybe seven or eight. We were in New York, so I said, “Oh, let’s go down— let’s go down to the park and we’ll take our gloves and throw them around.” Balls will be batted by us. We’ll simply locate a spot [on the] grass. “All right,” [Truman] answered, “let’s do that.”

“And it got away from me,” and they were unable to walk out. “Something occurred, and I became aware that the sun was now setting. “Oh my God,” I exclaimed. God, oh God. Hello, I apologize. We planned to go down and toss the ball around, I added. I lost it. Please pardon me.
And he replied, “No, that’s alright, man.” He also sounded dissatisfied.
But Truman made his father feel better. “[I told him] I don’t want you to be bored,” Tom clarified. And with a certain expression on his face, he remarked, “Dad, I’m never bored.”
And that … speaks to drive and curiosity as well as the ease of one’s current location to feel free to explore whatever world that may be.
“I came to the realization that the kids may follow their own interests without being pushed or coerced. That taught me something.
“They’ve never claimed to be bored. Whether or not I could relate to their enthusiasm, they have always been involved in some sort of activity.
