President Joe Biden addressed the nation on Thursday, following Donald Trump’s historic victory in the 2024 presidential election.

The President delivered his speech following a loud welcome in the Rose Garden of the White House. He preached a message of unity, encouraging people to love their country even if their candidate did not win, and to love their neighbor even if they disagreed on policy.

He also dismissed any conspiracy theories about election fraud and vowed a peaceful transfer of power in January.

Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate who lost the election this week, presented her concession speech on Wednesday at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Biden, who sought a second term before handing up the torch to Harris in July, was the first to comment to the election results on Wednesday, contacting Trump to congratulate him and complimenting Harris for waging a campaign with “a strong moral compass and a clear vision for the nation.”

He went on to say, “Her story represents the best of America’s story.” And, as she stated today, I have no doubt that she will continue writing the story.”

Biden has made it clear that he is determined to oversee a seamless transition of power for a new Trump administration… following tradition by inviting the president-elect to the White House on the call with 45 — soon to be 47 — something Trump did not do as president.

Trump’s campaign stated that the president-elect is looking forward to the meeting, and that the Republican leader “very much appreciated the call” from Biden.
