David Spade Will Host and Produce New Game Show 'Snake Oil' For Fox, With Will Arnett As Executive Producer

Snake Oil, starring David Spade and executive produced by Will Arnett, has been ordered by the network.

The candidates’ unique products are pitched to entrepreneurs in the original format, some of them are presenting legitimate company enterprises while the others are “Snake Oil Salesmen” whose goods are fraudulent.

To be eligible to win a prize that might change their lives, contestants must distinguish between authentic and fake products with the assistance of celebrity experts who will be appearing as guests.

Each round, the competitors pick a pair of entrepreneurs and learn about their distinctive—and frequently bizarre—products through visuals, an infomercial created especially for Snake Oil, and questions they ask the business representatives. The participants must then determine who is promoting a genuine product and who is peddling a fake with the assistance of their celebrity mentors.

The show’s creators are Arnett’s Electric Avenue and Fox Alternative Entertainment, and it will premiere on Fox during the 2023–2024 season. Along with Neal Konstantini and Marc Forman, Arnett will serve as executive producer of the show. Spade generates.

It is Arnett’s most recent unscripted program for Fox; he also hosts the podcast SmartLess with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes. Arnett also runs Lego Masters for the network. Additionally, he recently exec produced and appeared in the Netflix version of Murderville.

Along with Dana Carvey, former SNL star Spade also co-hosts the SNL podcast Fly on the Wall. His most recent stand-up performance, Nothing Personal, released in 2022.

I was honored when Fox invited me to host their new program, said host Spade. However, when they revealed that it was about a dubious snake oil seller, I felt a little less flattered to be the first person who comes to mind.

According to Allison Wallach, president of unscripted programming at Fox Entertainment, “Snake Oil really speaks to me as someone who spends way too much time online shopping and specializes in buying random products I may never use.” The most unusual consumer products ever created are mixed with David Spade’s trademark irreverent comedy and Will Arnett’s inventiveness to create an extraordinarily amusing guessing game that perfectly captures the spirit of Snake Oil.
