50 Cent is citing Mary J. Blige’s performance in Power Book II: Ghost as evidence that he is sincere about aiding Taraji P. Henson.
After Henson disclosed last month that she had dismissed her entire staff for failing to capitalize on the success of the hit television series Empire, 50 decided to take to social media to express his desire to support her.
In an effort to demonstrate his commitment to providing Henson with a chance to rebuild her career, the Queens native posted a picture of himself in a restaurant on Instagram along with the statement, “STARZ paid Mary a nice salary to appear in the Power Universe.”

Mary’s first regular TV role to date is that of Monet Stewart Tejada in Power Book II: Ghost. She was supposedly paid more than what Henson was getting on Empire and among the highest paid ladies on television at $400,000 per episode.
Henson first brought about firing her team in an interview with Variety that was conducted last month. The Oscar contender claims that while an Empire spin-off centered on Henson’s character Cookie Lyons was in development, nothing came of it.
