A man claims to be the world’s oldest living person and has some identification that he says would prove he is not lying about his age.
If he is correct, Brazilian man Andrelino Vieira da Silva will become the world’s oldest man, but these claims must be proven beyond a simple ‘believe me bro’.
In fact, if the ID he possesses is correct, he will become the world’s oldest confirmed individual, which is extremely remarkable.
The world’s oldest verified alive individual is currently 116-year-old Spanish woman Maria Banyas Morera.
Meanwhile, the oldest person ever recorded was French woman Jeanne Calment, who lived for 122 years between 1975 and 1997 and claimed to have sold painting canvasses to Vincent van Gogh, whom she described as having a ‘vile temper and smelt of wine’.
The world’s oldest verified living male is currently 114-year-old Venezuelan Juan Vicente Perez, while the oldest in history was 116-year-old Jiroemon Kimura of Japan.
However, if Andrelino can prove that he is really as ancient as he claims, he will outperform all of them.
There’s a reason he’s been dubbed the ‘horror of the INSS’, alluding to the expenses his years of life have incurred for Brazil’s social security office.
In 2022, he received a birthday cake with his nickname on it, and they even wrote him a note for his special day.
They answered, “You are not the horror of the INSS. You are a blessing to the INSS. We wish Mr. Andrelino many more years of life.
Andrelino claims to have recently celebrated birthday number 123, as he was born on February 3, 1901.
At the time, his claims have not been validated, so we can’t tell for certain whether he is as ancient as he claims, but he believes he has the ID to prove he is not just the world’s oldest man but also the oldest human ever documented.
Andrelino has seven children in his life, two of whom he has outlived, as well as 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Janaina Lemes de Souza, one of his granddaughters, told local media that “he’s fine, everything’s great.”
“It’s a great satisfaction for him to be with us for another year like this, everyone together.”
She stated that people would recognize her grandfather on the street and occasionally ask him to take pictures with them.
