Jack Black has pledged that Tenacious D will return, despite Kyle Gass’ incendiary remarks regarding Donald Trump.
The actor and musician recently called off the comedy rock band’s Spicy Meatball Tour after Gass made a joke about the attempted assassination of the US presidential candidate in July.
As Black attended the opening of his new film Borderlands on Tuesday evening, he assured the group’s break would not be permanent.
“We should take a break. “Everyone needs a break once in a while,” he told Variety. “And we’ll be back.”

Gass ignited uproar last month when he was asked to make a wish after receiving a birthday cake at a concert in Sydney. Shortly after the former US president’s ear was grazed by a bullet at a campaign rally, the musician said, “Don’t miss Trump next time”.
Black also discussed the state of his friendship with Gass since his bandmate made the contentious remark.
“Yes, we are pals. “That has not changed,” Black insisted. “These things can take some time… And we’ll return when it feels appropriate.”

Black made no secret of his affection for Tenacious D while attending the Borderlands event.
The 54-year-old performer proudly displayed the mystical guitar pick from the 2006 comedy Tenacious D: Pick of Destiny.
“Look what I wore today,” Black remarked on the red carpet. I wore the Pick of Destiny.
“I love Tenacious D. It is perhaps my favorite job, if you can call it that. It is a work of art, and it is my baby.”
